Wow! When I look back at photos of this project it just makes me really, really happy. Have I mentioned how much I love a dramatic before/after? Rachel and I did WERK to simplify and organize this client’s walk-in pantry! Are you ready to see it???
Pantry – BEFORE
Pantry – AFTER
I mean how FUN, right?! This client and her family cooks meals together weekly, hosts often, and has a house full of hungry kids and teenagers. Our main priority for her walk-in pantry organization was making sure that everything was visible and labeled so everyone could find what they were looking for without having to ask mom where the chips were. (Moms, you know what we’re talking about here, ha!)
Not only was the client a busy mom juggling school drop-offs, grocery runs, and homework help, she is also an entrepreneur who runs her own business! Yet another reason we took everything out of the packaging so she can easily know when they are running low on something.
Walk-In Pantry Organization Tips
The key to pantry organization is grouping similar items together. Some of the larger groups for this client were snacks (lots of snacks!), instant noodles, chips, sauces, dinner, and rice. Other groupings could be breakfast, baking, pasta, and backstock (which are bulk items or extras that you have on hand.) The woven baskets and clear bins from Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond are great ways to contain groupings. When things are grouped like this it makes it so much easier to put things back in the same place. It also helps to keep track of your extras so you don’t keep buying pasta noodles when you already have 7 boxes! Just me? Cool, cool.
If you realize that you have a lot of sauces, spreads, or cooking oils, turntables are the perfect solution! We love the large 15″ and 10″ sizes from Target, and we found the clear turntable style from Marshall’s.
Lastly, these clip on basket labels worked perfectly and came with 70 preprinted label options for typical household categories. We also use this label maker to label plastic bins and canisters. It easily connects to your phone with bluetooth and you use the Brother app to design the labels.
There are few things that make us happier, than a well organized space! Thanks for scrolling through this walk-in pantry organization post!
How do you feel about pantry organizations? Is it overwhelming, or do you have a system in place that works well for your family? We’d love to hear about your pain-points and solutions in the comments!
